Posted on

Spring is upon us, and in Oklahoma, that means storms and rain! Wet shoes, coats, and bags can create a mess. Follow these tips to contain the rainy day chaos!

Create a Drop Off Area

Does your family drop their wet coats and bags on the kitchen counter, floor, or dining room table?  Pick a place in the house for your family to drop their wet items to confine the mess to one area.

Use a Drying Rack

You can use a laundry room drying rack or coat rack as a drying zone in the mudroom or garage.

Wet Pets

Keep clean towels near the door to wipe down cats and dogs before coming too far into the house.  You can keep their favorite toy or treat close by to distract them while they are dried.

Consider Rubber Backed Doormats

Rubber-backed mats are your best defense again wet or muddy footprints. You can place a small mat outside and one inside so the family will wipe their feet twice before coming into the house.

Clean at the End of the Day

As soon as you finish cleaning, someone will come through the door bringing a wet mess with them.  Wait until the end of the day to clean to avoid frustration.
