Cleaning is a chore, but at 2 Green Chicks, it is our thing. We Chicks enjoy our work and take pride in mastering our craft. We also have quite a lot of fun. Some of our colleagues in the hotel industry even compete in a Housekeeping Olympics!
For the past 30 years, housekeepers from Las Vegas hotels compete in bed-making and vacuum races, mop relays, and toilet roll tosses. Teams wear costumes and garner cheers from the crowd as they
- speed vacuum confetti from carpet,
- launch toilet paper rolls or toilet brushes towards a faraway trash can,
- sweep ping pong balls and foam peanuts around obstacles,
- “ski” by standing on dust mops,
- fill buckets placed faraway using only a spray bottle,
- make a bed as quickly as possible, and then strip the bed, and refold everything.
The last competition included teams from the Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, MGM, Mirage, Venetian, and many more.
